Field Outreach Program

Development of a Film on Learning Disabilities for the Arab Sector

The first project in establishing the Field Outreach Program is the creation of a film that promotes awareness and understanding of learning disabilities among the Arab population. This short film covers many aspects of learning disabilities from characteristics and the issues presented in one's life to proper diagnosis and treatment.

Three individuals were chosen to be interviewed for the film – a college student, a university student, and a 5th grader. The film touches on the academic and emotional issues of the participants, as well as their parents' and teachers' views of learning disabilities.

In addition, two of the Center's specialists in the area of learning disabilities in the Arab sector, Dr. Haitham Taha and Hanadi Abu Ahmad, were interviewed for the film. The two speak about the theoretical background of learning disabilities and the importance of early diagnosis and adequate treatment.
